captjamieway: John and Aeryn are frelling hot! (j/a - frelling hot)

Total intake of breath as I just saw Ben Browder's name on the guest list for Dragon*Con (which I've been checking every day... hoping that he'd be added). I want to go SO BAD!! I've been seriously thinking about going anyway, especially since I saw Claudia Black and Michael Shanks (not to mention all of the other wonderful people, I could go on and on) added to the guest list... but this just... geez... I need to go. The only problem (other than the fact that I have no money, heh) is I have no idea of where to stay. All of the host and overflow hotels are full, although at this point I'm pretty much willing to sleep in a car, lol.

I've never been to Dragon*Con before... I've been a bit worried about it because it's so big though. Anybody have anything good/bad to say about it?

I have nothing but good things to say about it! (Except waiting for the elevators, LOL.) Although, I have only been once. :D The site says there are still some rooms available at the Westin (one of the overflow hotels), so you might be able to find something there - there's also [ profile] dragonconrooms. If I find any spaces going I'll let you know!

It is huge, and some of the bigger panels (e.g. BSG or Firefly) you have to turn up quite a long time in advance if you want to be near the front. But despite the size, there's a fantastic atmosphere, and you're not forced into getting your autographs, if you want them, at a pre-appointed time, you can go whenever's convenient as long as the celebrity is around (and not at a panel or on lunch or whatever). Hmm, don't really know what else to tell you, but ask away if there's anything else in particular you want to know. :)

Ooo, how'd I miss that (haven't checked the hotel section in awhile, could have sworn they were all full then... must have missed it though). OK, now I just need the money, lol.

Thank you for the info! =D I'm glad to hear that it was a good experience for you. I've only been to the smaller conventions, like Vulkon. I was a little worried that with so many people there it might be hard to see and do anything.

Hmm... I do have two questions (for the moment, lol). If by the time I get the money together I end up having to stay somewhere farther away, do you know how bad the traffic is near the convention area?

And, also, do panels overlap a lot? I have too many damned fandoms, lol... it'd suck if two of my favorites ended up doing panels at the same time (assuming they're not all held in the same area).

I hope you manage to go there.

I haven't been to DragonCon, so I don't much about it I'm afraid. Where is it held?

It's a ton of fun and truly an experience. My friend and fellow con-goer called last night just to let me know Ben was going to be there. I've been twice before and had a blast both times. Going this year too!!! We've sorta decided we have to go every year, lol. It's got so much to see and do and frankly the sight of us "geeks" taking over the city is pretty cool. I really recommend it!!!

Yay, glad to hear another positive experience. I think I'm really going to try to go.

And, yup, I saw Kate on the guest list. =D
